After the less regular gift from TV Guide, now the dependable one from Entertainment Weekly—nomen est omen. They just released their weekly preview of the upcoming episode, the finale no less!
Even I can see how this one may do more than tease, so proceed behind the break at your own peril.
First, though, the unicorn will have to grapple with a curse that switches around all of her friends’ cutie marks — thus messing with their destinies. “Twilight uses her wits and her love of her friends and ingenuity to figure out what’s going on,” voice actress Tara Strong (who plays Twilight) explained in an interview this week. “It’s a very exciting episode. There’s a lot of twists and turns, and things that you think are going to go wrong, and wonderful music.”
Speaking of that music: “Magical Mystery Cure” features a full score and seven different musical numbers by composer/lyricist Daniel Ingram and lyricist M.A. Larson, who doubles as the episode’s screenwriter — all in about 21 minutes and 45 seconds of airtime. Here’s a sneak peek at the opening number, an “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’” style tune about starting a day off in Ponyville:
