Any engaged fan of Friendship is Magic will recognize the box above, containing the highly-coveted pony figure which was initially produced for and only available at San Diego Comic-Con 2012. The toy comes sealed in a package decorated with elaborate artwork from the show: muffins raining down upon Cloudsdale. As is the norm for the creative process, designs can go through many revisions before reaching a final product. After the jump you will find an earlier revision of this toy’s box art, which has some very apparent differences from the final product. One interesting point to take note of is the mentioned file dates.

DerpyCon South Announces Anneli Heed

Flyer Captains and Fan Concerts

Ms Anneli Heed who plays Swedish Spitfire is coming down to DerpyCon
South, and she’ll be singing on stage with fan musicians!

Anneli Heed is a Swedish stand up comedian, impersonator, and voice actor.
She’s done quite a bit of animation voice over work in Sweden. In My
Little Pony Friendship is Magic, she plays (among others):

  • Cheerilee
  • Photo Finish
  • Spike
  • Spitfire
  • Rainbow Dash (singing voice)

Friday evening, right after Opening Ceremonies (which actually will not be
the first event), we’ll be having our Fan Concert. We’d like to invite
musicians from the fandom to come down and play their songs for our
attendees either Fri night for the acoustic part or Sat night for the
electronic part. Send an email to [email protected] if you’re
interested in registering for a set. Please include: equipment you
have/need, how long of a set you want, and a link to your music.

As it turn out, Ms Heed has agreed to sing some fan songs with the
musicians that wrote them. She’s picked out a few herself, but we’re also
holding a contest to give a fan musician an opportunity to play with her.
All you have to do is write a brand new song about Spitfire in first
person (essentially so it has a vocal part for her). It can be any style,
genre, or vocal range as longs as the lyrics stay PG and the length stay
under 5 minutes. The song can be hosted anywhere as long as it can be
played from the site. The winner will be selected by Ms Heed herself, and
the prize is debuting the song with her live right after the opening
ceremonies (you will get the change to rehearse it with her beforehand),
DCS will also provide you with travel, lodging, and registration to the
convention. You have until June 30th at 11:59pm CDT to send links to your
entries to [email protected].

We will also be opening up panel submissions. If you have an idea for a
panel at DCS, please send an email with all the relevant information to
[email protected].

We also need quite a few volunteers. If you’re interested in helping out,
send an email to [email protected]. Phew! We hope to see you in
October!

Also Bonbon! Find the animated video promo after the break.

Animaniacs Promos

Pinkie and the Brain by caffeinerabbit

In the past month or so, The Hub has produced a slew of new Animaniacs promo spots and what better way to attract a rabid fanbase than by making a nod at their already-beloved show. The following videos are commercials featuring the cast of Animaniacs (voiced by their original actors, no less) singing jingles and mentioning The Hub’s main lineup of shows, most prominently My Little Pony, of course. Take a looksee after the break.

UPDATE: The extended cut of the “Let the Anvils Ring” promo has been added below!

“My Small Squirrel”

It’s not unheard of for DHX to make playful jabs at its other productions. In the latest episode of Littlest Pet Shop, “Blythe’s Pet Project,” Blythe tries to convince Shivers the Squirrel to live in the park by depicting it as a magical land filled with friendship and a little too much sugar. You can sit through this sequence after the jump or here. (The magic starts at 14:05.)

MAD MLP Sketch #4: Dash & Bernstein

As we alerted you last week, the MAD animated series has produced another FiM-based parody sketch (the fourth to date). This one also happens to be a mash up with Disney XD’s puppet/live action show Crash & Bernstein. Most noticeably, Tara is the voice for Dash, while they also smuggle in a screen actor who was most recently known for his performance as an insurance-toting fowl. I also suspect that I spot a familiar fandom face in the snapshot montage…

End your April Fool’s fun after the break.

New MAD Ad with MLP Parody Clip

With more new episodes of MAD comes more old and overdone parodies. If my count is correct, this should be the 4th MLP parody on MAD (not accounting for the Rainbow Dash/Derpy cameo in the meme sketch).
No word as of yet on when this one will air. You’ll find the goods after the break at 00:06:01. sorry
